The Sports DocsDr. Bassett & Dr. Logan – are friends & former co-residents from the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program, who went onto esteemed sports medicine fellowships at The Steadman Clinic and The Rothman Institute, respectively.

Catherine A. Logan, MD, MBA, MSPT

Dr. Logan is a board-certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in complex knee and shoulder surgery at Colorado Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics (COSMO) located in Denver, Colorado. As a former physical therapist and personal trainer, Dr. Logan provides a distinct expertise in sports injury, prevention, surgical management, and recovery.

She is a team physician for the mens USA Box Lacrosse National team, US Ski & Snowboard and currently serves as on the Board of Directors for The Chill Foundation.

After her transition from physical therapy, Dr. Logan excelled at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, where she earned multiple clinical and research awards while simultaneously earning her Master of Business Administration (M.B.A). Dr. Logan stayed in Boston, where she completed the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. During her time at Harvard, Dr. Logan studied the epidemiology and management of discoid meniscus and was the Editor-in-Chief of the Orthopaedic Journal of the Harvard Medical School. Following residency, Dr. Logan completed her sports medicine fellowship at the world-renowned Steadman Philippon Research Institute/The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. 

Ashley Bassett, MD

Dr. Bassett is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and minimally invasive surgical treatment of shoulder, elbow and knee injuries. She is a team physician for USA Gymnastics and currently serves as the director of the Women’s Sports Medicine Center at the Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey.

Dr. Bassett graduated top of her class at Rutgers University – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and Gold Humanism Honor Society. Following medical school, Dr. Bassett completed her residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. She then completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine Surgery at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute at Thomas Jefferson University where she was awarded the Philip Syng Physic Research Award for her work on return to play testing after ACL reconstruction surgery.  

Prior to her position at the Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey, Dr. Bassett served as a team physician for the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Flyers and 76ers as well as Villanova University and Saint Joseph’s University Athletics. In addition to traveling with USA Gymnastics, Dr. Bassett is also the head team physician for Sussex County Community College and provides sideline medical coverage for many local high schools across Sussex and Morris Counties.
